Work may include excavation, grading, material placement, and compaction as specified in your project scope. We review access, existing ground conditions, proposed elevations, and drainage considerations before preparing an estimate.

Preparing the Work Area

Site preparation starts with understanding what will be built and what the next contractor needs. Depending on the project, our scope may include clearing the work area, removing unsuitable surface material, excavation, cut/fill, and rough grading. We agree on the work limits and material handling before work begins.

Where earthwork is needed beyond the pad itself, we can coordinate excavation and grading for the surrounding work area and access route.

Base Preparation, Material Placement and Compaction

We prepare the base and place material to the requirements established for your project. Material selection, placement depth, finished elevations, and compaction requirements depend on the intended building or use. We clarify what is included so the pad or prepared area can be handed over for the next stage of construction.

Where your project requires engineered plans, soil testing, or specified compaction testing, those requirements should be established with the appropriate professionals. We coordinate our work with the project information and requirements provided.

Drainage and Project Coordination

Pad preparation also needs to account for surrounding ground and water movement. We review drainage considerations within our construction scope and coordinate with supplied plans and elevations. If design information or professional decisions are needed, we identify those items before proceeding. BRT does not provide geotechnical or structural engineering, professional design, or licensed surveying.

We work with property owners, builders, contractors, and engineers to define the construction tasks and the point at which the site will be ready for the next trade. Changes in soil, access, weather, or project requirements are discussed with you.
